The Rule of Thirds

The Rule of thirds.

Rules or intuition?
Personally I work intuitively. I make work first and then stumble across the rules second.
So, anyway, this is my bit on  what I discovered about the rule of thirds.

The eye line is above the line of the horizon.

In this picture below you can see a very obvious sample of the rule of thirds. 

I also love llamas which is also why I made this image.

It seems that the rule of thirds suggests that the image that is to be highlighted should sit upon one of the intersections of the divided canvas. This image (above) in particular works for westerners as this is where we read from, the top left hand corner of the area.
